The Aqua Doctor

The Aqua Doctor presented us with a unique planning and development challenge. With big plans for growth and expansion, they asked us to design a custom application that they could use to log, store, retrieve and finally report on business data and customer information. We started the process with an introduction to the business of Aqua Doctor, and Seth Marx, marketing director, showed us the ropes.

The company, already known for its superior pool construction and service, wanted to streamline operations and increase benefits to customers by maintaining a database of customer information, products, projects, service calls, maintenance requests, daily work assignments and other important details and notes. But that's not all… they wanted to be able to enter and retrieve data, photos and other information in real-time, not only from their desks at the home office, but via an iPhone, iPad or other mobile device while in the field. Now that was a challenge!

With Seth's extensive knowledge of the inner workings of the business and the needs of his customers, he guided us through the vision of the company, their imminent needs and future desires, and we helped craft a plan to make it happen. We created pages upon pages of documentation that included wireframes, sitemaps, data flow diagrams and technical specifications. Once Seth was happy with the result and we all understood the project, we were ready to get to work.

In addition to designing an extensive database and back-end management system, we also designed a public-facing website so Aqua Doctor could show off their beautiful pool work. One of the most important site features is its fully content-managed photo gallery where Seth and his staff can upload photos of pools and projects-in-progress.

It was a lot of work and it paid off. Aqua Doctor and its field reps now enjoy the ease of using their new system to update website content and photos, enter and retrieve customer information and manage inventory, billing and project details. But it's not over yet… as Seth and his team use the system, they continuously add "wish list" items and dream up new ways to make things better, easier, and more beneficial to their customers. We're looking forward to continuing the journey with them.
